Welcome to Class 7 (Year 5/6)
Mrs. S. Overal and Miss McGurk
A very warm welcome to class 7! For our Year 6 children, this will be their final year in Greenland and our Year 5 children, who have made the transition to Upper Keystage 2. Together, we will be working hard to prepare them for the many challenges and opportunities that they will encounter throughout this year and beyond. We aim to make this year an enjoyable experience for all of the children in Class 7 and have many exciting events and activities planned for the year ahead. As you will appreciate, children are able to progress further with continued support from those around them at home and this we encourage greatly at Greenland Primary School.
If you have any concerns or queries, please do not hesitate to contact me at school. I look forward to working with you and thank you for your support.
Year 5/6 will receive Literacy homework and numeracy homework each week. This will be given to your child on a Monday and will be expected to be returned by Friday. Each child has been given a homework diary and we ask that parents/carers ensure that the diary is signed every Friday and returned to school each day.
All children will be given an Accelerated Reader book and a library book. They will be many opportunities for independent and shared reading across the school day and the children are advised to take Accelerated Reader books home each evening and return them to school the following day. We encourage reading on a daily basis as reading for only a short amount of time each day can help your child progress.
Check with your teacher as to when you will need your PE kit. PE kit consists of a white t-shirt and plain shorts (black/green). Suitable footwear is required for outdoor activities.
